Carson Fox

New York–based artist Carson Fox is known for transforming meticulous processes into immersive visual experiences that emphasize craftsmanship, color, and spatial engagement. Best recognized for her site-specific commissions, Fox creates resin wall installations that are fully customizable and designed to respond to their architectural environments.

Her work appears in a wide range of public and private settings, including schools, offices, hospitals, transportation hubs, libraries, and private residences. Fox is deeply invested in the role of art within everyday spaces, particularly in how permanent installations influence perception and bring sustained visual interest to daily life.

A notable example of her public work is Blue Ombre (below), a large-scale installation spanning a 14-foot by 15-foot arch inside Temple University’s Charles Library. Created as part of the library’s renovation, the piece reimagines the architectural threshold through an expansive field of color. Completed in July 2020, Blue Ombre consists of approximately 8,400 individually crafted blue resin flowers that fully occupy the archway.

Floral imagery is central to Fox’s practice. She is drawn to the emotional resonance generated by dense, chromatic compositions, while also engaging with the symbolic associations of flowers, including grief, loss, hope, love, and renewal. Fox began expanding her use of floral forms following the passing of her parents in 2000, initially as a means of processing grief and later as a source of emotional restoration. This perspective informed Blue Ombre, which Fox has described as a tribute to those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

In addition to her large-scale installations, Fox’s studio-based works offer a more intimate expression of her practice. These pieces reflect the same attention to material, color, and form, allowing viewers to engage with her work on a personal scale.
