This Spring, Stanek Gallery brings together fresh works and old favorites from painters Barbara Fisher and Stanka Kordic, and sculptor Julia Levitina. Working in various mediums and styles, these three women artists create works abounding in beauty, depth, and strength.
Barbara Fisher’s abstract compositions transform interior narratives into a visual language. Combining fragments of thoughts, gestural marks, scribbles, and fields of color, Fisher’s atmospheric paintings provide a space for contemplation and discovery.
Stanka Kordic’s paintings provide a sense of mystery and sensitivity, her figures appearing to pass through time and space. Through soft transitions, Kordic disrupts and overlays various realities to create a new, distinctive image.
Julia Levitina’s sculptural work captures the extraordinary in the ordinary. Levitina’s sculptures speak to a wide range of subjects, depicting figures powerful and serene, portraits pensive and stoic, as well as an assortment of animals, some of which might very well be creatures of myth.
