Stanek Gallery Hosts First Photography Exhibit with Legendary Philadelphia Gallery Pioneer
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (PHILADELPHIA, PA) April 10, 2018 – Stanek Gallery is pleased to announce its first photography show featuring the works of ten accomplished photographers entitled “People Places and Things.” Curated in collaboration with Sande Webster-Brantley, Stanek Gallery is able to merge creativity with one of Philadelphia’s art gallery pioneers. Webster-Brantley operated her own Center City gallery for over 40 years. She is known for becoming the first gallery in the city to exhibit and sell the work of African American artists. This exhibition features a selection of 45 provocative images by both local and visiting talent. “People Places and Things” kicks off with an opening reception during Old City Philadelphia’s First Friday May 4th from 6:00PM - 9:00PM. The exhibition runs through May 26th 2018. Additionally, a live discussion about the show will be held on May 12th at the gallery from 1:00PM – 3:00PM.
The works of Adger Cowans, Willie Williams, Donald Camp, Arlene Love, Robert Reinhardt, Ada Trillo, Ronald Tarver, Andrea Baldeck, Tony Ward, and Anthony Barbosa will transport you to their worlds behind the lens. “We’re so excited to showcase the talents of these notable photographers in our beautiful space,” said Katherine Stanek, Owner of Stanek Gallery. “We invite everyone to enjoy the art during the opening reception and throughout the month of May. We’ll also host a free event with guest speaker Stephen Perloff while the exhibition is on view and is not to be missed.”
Respected writer, photographer and educator Stephen Perloff explore the many forms of the photographic image and limitless opportunities for expression in the context of the works on display in the gallery's inaugural photography exhibition on Saturday, May 12 from 1:00PM -4:00PM.
