About the Role
The Gallery Manager reports directly to the Gallery Owner & Director and is responsible for management of daily operations with a wide range of administrative and curatorial tasks. This role presents ample opportunity for growth and upward mobility. Qualified candidates should be highly personable, proactive, and motivated with strong project management skills. Ideal candidates will have a demonstrated investment and interest in the Fine Arts and exhibit strong communication and networking abilities. Impeccable writing and editing skills with attention to detail is a must. Previous experience at a gallery, museum, or comparable arts organization is required.
Primary responsibilities
Oversee support team and daily operations
Coordinate and maintain exhibitions, events, and promotional calendar
Manage exhibition programming, installations, and associated events
Liaison between the Gallery and Artists
Create content, design and publish marketing materials (including press releases, postcards, flyers, and catalogues)
Initiate buyer and client engagement for sales and support
Manage sales inquiries and process transactions
Coordinate shipments/deliveries of artwork
Manage physical and digital files and business documents
Maintain artwork inventory and associated data collection
Maintain contact distribution lists
Assist with the preparations and installation of exhibitions and art fairs
Stay educated on new artists and relevant art trends
Additional responsibilities & special projects
Assist in the curating of Exhibitions
Curate and design online virtual gallery on Exhibbit platform
Design and curate silent auctions on Bid Beacon platform
Assist Gallery Director in budget planning
Schedule and conduct client visits and presentations
Assist with gallery openings and events
Experience/Skills
BA in Fine Art, Art History, or related fields required. Strong applicants are those actively pursuing a career in the Arts or arts administration. 2+ years of experience working in a gallery, museum, or arts organization is required.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) required
Proficiency in Google+
Knowledge of Artsy a plus
Knowledge of SquareUp a plus
Knowledge of Outlook a plus
Knowledge of social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, Youtube, and Twitter is required
Experience with Constant Contact and WIX platforms a plus
Experience with Adobe Photoshop preferred
