Powerful Multimedia Exhibition Hosted by Stanek Gallery Explores the Human and Animal Dynamic

Old-city based gallery unveils “Animal I Become” on Friday, March 3rd 2017

PHILADELPHIA February 3rd 2017- Stanek Gallery announced today a new multimedia exhibition that challenges the way we look at the human and animal relationship. The exhibition titled “Animal I Become” features the work of modern masters, internationally exhibited artists and prominent instructors of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and the Rochester Institute of Technology. Stanek Gallery will unveil the powerful new exhibition on Friday March 3rd, 2017.

“We traditionally view animals as ‘less valuable’ than humans and cultivate the reasoning to support this way of thinking,” says Treacy Ziegler, curator of “Animal I Become”. As we make the connection that some of this reasoning has been used to establish superiority over certain human minority groups, the arguments do not seem so reasonable.”

This exhibition features the work of, Gary Weisman, Denis Defibaugh, Jill Rupinski, Julia Levitina, Sylvia Taylor, Georganna Lenssen, Diane Collins, James G. Mundie and Treacy Ziegler.

“Through painting, sculpture, photography and mixed media, these talented artists seek to inspire new, more inclusive relationships with animals that are not dominion over, but a becoming with them”, added Ms. Ziegler.
